Recycling Program

A RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR MAIN STREET BAPTIST CHURCH

The Faith and Foundations Class after studying a chapter on Being Environmentally Conscious felt led to begin a program to facilitate recycling among the members of Main Street Baptist Church. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (New International Version) In other words, we don’t own any of God’s world; we are stewards of the portion with which God has blessed us. Sad to say, the human race has defiled God’s world through water, air, land, and other types of pollution. Our throw-away society has filled our landfills with items which may take years to decompose—some may never. To make matters worse, as some items in landfills decompose, they contaminate our drinking water, lakes, streams, etc.

Will you join us in our effort to recycle as many items as possible? Receptacles have been placed in the car port area where the church van is kept. Please bring items you want to recycle and place them in the appropriate receptacles. When the receptacles are full, they will be taken to the Recycle Drop-Off Center in Muskogee. Below is a list of acceptable items.

  • Magazines
  • Office Paper
  • Cardboard—Please break down boxes.
  • Aluminum cans—Please RINSE out and SQUASH. The cans will be sold and the proceeds used to help cover Operation Christmas Child postage.
